McCain Wants only Wealthy to serve in his Administration

I was watching Face the Nation on CBS this morning and heard John McCain say that the search for renewable energy is not a partisan issue. I can agree with that.

It's what he said next that really bothered me. McCain said he was going to get the best and the brightest to work on this issue (among others) and he was going to ask some of them to work for only $1. I have no problem with Mccain wanting the best and the brightest tackling the issues and problems facing our nation. I have a problem with the fact that he expects them to work basically for nothing.

I'd like to be in on that cabinet meeting. What is he going to do, put the rich people at one end of the table and the folks who actually have to earn a living to support a family at the other? This is just another McCain gimmick.

You don't ask people to work for $1. You don't expect people to work for $1. Hasn't he ever heard that saying, "You get what you pay for?"

This is just idiotic. Who can afford to work for $1? Here's a quick list:

Trust fund babies like Paris Hilton
CEOs of large corporations
All those middle class workers earning $5,000,000 each year

McCain has gone off the deep end. He has gone from being someone I can respect to being just another pathetic, gimmick-pushing politician.

Seriously, just how much of our budget

is used paying the president's cabinet? This is a gimmick. However, if he's saying he'll do this to save money then he must want only wealthy to serve. Otherwise, there is no savings.

Stupid, stupid gimmick.

The People's Think Tank

In the comment section of Higher Ground Yankees Fan had this to say:

Before I end this, let me interject a point of humor. When debate whether Spanish should be given special status as language in Texas, a Texas state representative (I hope a Republican) stood up and said, "If English was good enough for Jesus Christ, it's good enough for me."
