McCrory lies, lies and lies again

It's hard to stay on top of Pat McCrory's lies, but when he claimed to NBC-17 that he was going to continue running a positive campaign I knew he was lying. I was going to dig up some examples, but the NCDP saved me the trouble. The following is a sampling of McCrory's "positive" campaign:

Just After the Primary: AP: McCrory “Slammed” Perdue in His “First Attack of the General Election;” But “Perdue Has the Same Opinion as McCrory.” “Republican governor's candidate Pat McCrory, in his first attack of the general election, slammed his Democratic rival Friday for supporting a policy that allows illegal immigrants to attend the state's community colleges. There's only one problem: Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue has the same opinion as McCrory on the issue.” [AP, “McCrory Slams Perdue on Immigration View She Doesn't Hold,” 5/9/08; AP, “Race for governor gets first attack, 5/9/08]

McCrory Campaign Called Perdue “the PAC Lady Sitting in Smoke-Filled Rooms” and Unleashed a Stream of Negative Personal Attacks. [McCrory Press release, 7/30/08]

McCrory Personally Called Perdue a “Hypocrite” and Said “She is part of the culture of arrogance and corruption.” “Mayor Pat McCrory, the Republican nominee for governor, today called Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue a hypocrite… She is part of the culture of arrogance and corruption I intend to change.’” [McCrory Press release, 7/30/08]

News and Observer: It’s Unusual for Personal Attacks to Come Directly From Candidates. “The press release was unusual, in that direct attacks on the opponent are typically attributed to campaign staffers and not the candidate.” [News and Observer’s “Under the Dome”, 7/30/08]

McCrory Campaign Accused Perdue of Being Part of a “Culture of Arrogance and Inaccessibility.” [McCrory Press release, 7/17/08]

When the State GOP Ran Ads Scurrilously Linking Perdue and Moore to Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s Comments, McCrory Refused to Denounce the Ad, Even After John McCain and Pundits Nationwide Did. [Winston-Salem Journal, 5/1/08]

Do you think he knows he is lying through his teeth?

The People's Think Tank

In the comment section of Higher Ground Yankees Fan had this to say:

Before I end this, let me interject a point of humor. When debate whether Spanish should be given special status as language in Texas, a Texas state representative (I hope a Republican) stood up and said, "If English was good enough for Jesus Christ, it's good enough for me."
